The mission of Spring Valley United Methodist Church Preschool is to provide each child the essential building blocks for academic success and spiritual growth in a safe, nurturing environment. We believe that play is the work of childhood, and skills and knowledge are gained through experience. Learning concepts through play and exploration put children on a path to become lifelong learners.

Concepts and skills are taught through theme based instruction and guided learning centers. Lesson plans are created around units and include the following developmental areas: language and literacy development; beginning number awareness and math; gross and fine motor development, social and emotional growth.

Learning takes place in group settings such as morning circle and centers as well as individualized instruction. Lifeways Wee-Learn curriculum is used as a foundation. In addition, four year old classes use Frog Street Press phonetic curriculum and Transitional Kindergarten uses Calendar Math and a reader series.

Music is on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for all ages.

Chapel is on Tuesday for three, four and five year olds.

All staff is hired based on a combination of education and experience. Our three- and four-year-old teachers are all degreed teachers. All of our teachers have experience, a heart for children, a love for learning, and share a Christian faith.
